Deeble's Diary - day 7
Big win today! Although we did it the hard way, crushing at 8-1 up, the thunder hit, lightening everywhere, so the umpires stopped the game. It gave me a bad feeling we needed the momentum to get rolling. 30 minute break was not what we were looking for, the Dominicans came back swinging the bats; and I thought we might have hurt ourselves by not pounding the strike zone.
With a 7 run lead we walked a couple, pitched behind in the count. In defence of our pitchers, we broke 7 bats today; 5 of them went for hits 3 in the 8th and 9th inning.
I didn’t really want to use Wise as the closer today; I wanted to give him the extra day to be fresh for Venezuela tomorrow; but it was a save situation and he is our closer, so we went with him. Hogben and Wise were both squeezed by the umpire late.
Big game tomorrow against tough team Venezuela. We are the home team this time; so we wont get that afternoon sun belting into our dugout.
