Two James' add to Aussie Success

Trish Quayle, Tuesday, 12 June 2012

James Brooks and James Darcy have joined fellow Victorian Dale Ricketts in Aussie College Baseball success stories this week.

Melbourne born Brooks, was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 20th round of the MLB Rule 4 Draft out of the University of Utah.

The former MLBAAP player joined two of his Utah teammates in the draft making it the first time since 2004 the University had three players drafted.

Majoring in Exercise and Sport Science in his studies, Brooks has made his name at the ‘Utes’ for the past four years as the starting shortstop; he hit 0.304 and was fifth in the league with ten home runs.

James Darcy, also a Victorian native, won the National Junior College Athlete Association (NJCAA) Championship with the Western Iowa Community College last week.

Darcy, who also credits the MLBAAP in his development, holds a 2.16 ERA as pitcher for the Iowa Reivers in his freshman year.

Congratulations to James Brooks on your MLB Draft and James Darcy on your NJCAA Championship win.  We look forward to following both of your careers as they progress.
