Deeble's Diary - day 4
Another tough day at the office, we faced a tough Korean team tonight. Clayton Tanner was outstanding for the first 2 innings then lost his way in the 3rd, he was a little unlucky giving up three hits that where close to hitting the line in Left field. He gave up 4 then settled back in and did a good job until he gave up a home run in the 5th.
Andy Russell threw the ball well as did Kable Hogben. Brendan Wise came in in the 9th and gave up 3 infield singles; he gave up 3 but was very unlucky as he pitched well.
Now to the hitting. Korea had a guy had there tonight who had great stuff, he was a sidearmer with a real good sinking fastball and a great slider. We had 12-13 strike out; he was really good with pin point control.
We played great defence again tonight but just could not get anything going offensively. Wearne beat out an infield single with a runner on 1st only to have the umpire ring him up on a terrible call.
Still trying to figure out if our kids are tired from the long season or if having three weeks off has hurt them. Did only playing one practice match hurt us…should we have played three like everyone else…? Our bats seem slow and tired; the ball just isn’t jumping off our bats. We will have a freshen up tomorrow with a day off and come out and win the last 4 to go to the next round.
